For as long as he can remember, principle designer Tod Barker has been creating visually in some capacity or another.  At Eastern Michigan University, he completed a bachelors degree in Design, and spent three northern Michigan summers designing sets & costumes for summer stock theatre.  In the years that followed, he worked in various artistic venues, from being a dresser on Broadway, to working in visual merchandising (display) for both Macys, Herald Square in NYC, and for Macys, Union Square in San Francisco, specializing in home decor & accessories.  

After returning to Michigan to complete his Masters degree, he went on to work in the construction trade, first obtaining his builder's license, and then opening The Painted Touch, a decorative painting service in Ann Arbor.  He then became the visual merchandiser for the award-winning Selo/Shevel Galleries.  

Seven years ago Tod moved to historic Savannah, GA.  While teaching for the Savannah College of Art and Design, he opened HomeDetails, a custom interior business, where he focused predominantly on painting, finish carpentry and ceramic tile.  He then studied with Barbara Bain, co-author of IRIS IN THE HOUSE, and one of Florida's premier interior redesigners, and was certified as an Interior Redesign Industry Specialist in 2007.  To complete the circle, he has moved back home to Michigan and is working once again in his home state to make the homes of clients beautiful and unique.  Creating a visually pleasing environment is second nature to Tod -- ask how he can help you with your home!



Together with his sister, Jan Lefevre, the design duo forms Relative to Design. While each sibling operates a redesign and staging firm independently in their home states of Michigan and North Carolina, they sometimes team for 
large assignments.
